Married with three grown up children and now three grandchildren.
Qualified as Chartered Quantity Surveyor in 1972.
Undertook Open University Degree in Economics and Social Sciences in 1977 to broaden outlook and for personal development.
Excellent training with John Laing followed by a career with them and subsequently Laing O’Rourke lasting over 40 years. Career spent working mostly in the North of England, Scotland and Ireland.
Became Commercial Director of the Construction North Division in 1995 until 2009 and now acting for the Laing O’Rourke Board on a range of special assignments.
Played a major role throughout career in developing professionally qualified people and securing a strong succession plan for Laing O’Rourke with all senior commercial positions being filled with Laing O’Rourke trained talent.
Big interest in all major sports (particularly football), politics and macro-economics. Spent many years campaigning with Oxfam.
