This year at St. Barnabas, we are most fortunate to be working with Chester Zoo who have been coming to our school and conducting workshops with our children. These have been eye-opening for staff and student about not only the huge variety of life that exists out there but just how quickly it is being destroyed. Chester Zoo are working to raise awareness about Palm Oil - a plant/fruit whose oil is in most of the products we use. Chester Zoo are not saying stop buying ice-cream, chocolate, soap or other such products, but that we can help to save animals such as the Orangutans of Borneo by buying products with stickers/marks saying that use SUSTAINABLE palm-oil. Children have been able to sample life of the forests and learn how they can do their part to help save the animals and rainforests from being destroyed.
